Pricing
At Pocket Pines Rattery, our adoption fee reflects the time, care, and resources invested into raising healthy, ethically bred rats. This fee is structured to help cover the cost of food, bedding, and veterinary care, while also honoring the thoughtful planning and selective breeding that go into producing rats with strong health and reliable temperament. Our goal is never simply to “sell” rats, but to place them in loving homes where they can thrive. By supporting responsible breeding, adopters become partners in the work of building strong lines and ensuring that future generations of rats will continue to bring joy for years to come.

Our base price starts at $30 per rat

Harley
We are so excited to begin offering harley to the public! harley is a coat modifying gene which creates long fluffy fur. These rats can show sensitivities to protein and as such we ask that they go either to rat experienced homes or those that have done the research and are willing to provide the necesary care to make sure these beautiful rats thrive.

Odd Eye
Odd eye is one of those unique genes that's hard to quantify. Traditionally speaking odd-eye rats have two differently colored eyes. In practical terms it's common to end up with a 'double odd eye' which has both eyes diluted outside of the standard. Or sometimes a black eyed rat with pupils that glow red under flash. The surcharge only applies to our odd eye of the highest quality.

+$15
Silvermane
Silvermane is a coat gene within the satin complex. It causes the tips of the rats guard hairs to be hollow, creating a frosted look and silky smooth texture. The surcharge for silvermane is based on the quality of the silvering, not the presence of the gene alone.
+$20
Pearl Merle
Pearl is a dominant gene which lightens the color of the fur on mink based rats. Merle is a recessive gene which causes patches of darker pigment. The lighter the 'phase' of the pearl the more dramatic the pearl spots will appear. I am still in the early stages of working both of these phenotypes to the place I want them, but hope to have eventual availability.
